With such a varied repertoire and so much experience, Michael has asserted himself as one of the bastions of South African entertainment. There's not much else to say about a man so ingrained into the South African psyche except perhaps... YEBO MKHULU! |

THIS week's Wag and Wow show held at the Castle Kyalami brought out the bitch in some, and had others' tails wagging. Not many models get given snacks on the ramp, in order for them to do their thing, but the canine beauties featured in this show got the star treatment. From wild Weimaramers to chubby Chihuahuas, from a poodle "no bigger than an ant" (to quote Michael de Pinna) to two startled Yorkies with tiaras, from tousled blonde, metrosexual Afghans to tough Scotties oozing more sex appeal than Sean Connery ... this show had it all. And that was just the dogs. ... who were sporting the latest in doggy fashion from Doggie Style, Red Dog Inc and Pink Trash.
The celebrities and models were seriously upstaged, all except for Jacinda who made sure that her diminutive poodle's nose was out of joint, and that everyone admired her bark-green Lunar dress instead. Michelle Garforth ensured that everyone loved her little "doggit", a feisty fellow called Sushi, and she strutted the ramp and posed for the cameras. Edith Venter brought along her own dog, a well-behaved white Scottie, and Michael de Pinna's spaniel Leo looked adoreingly at everyone, especially when slipped a little snack or two. The show was possible because of sponsorship, and all proceeds went to the Society for Animals in Distress. |
