THE HISTORY OF IT’S TIME
On the 3rd May 2003, at Michael de Pinna's birthday party, an idea for a new concert show was born. Mike and his cousin Elizabeth Rennie each performed at the party individually. Liz stunned the audience with her virtuosic violin skills, and Mike brought the house down with his intoxicating mastery of song. It then dawned on the two cousins to consider joining their violin and voice forces on stage, and as a result, the new concert show... IT'S TIME.
They decided that it was "time" to get together, "time" to get to know one another, "time" to pay a tribute to their musical roots and "time" to get a new concert show on the road. To their knowledge, this combination of electric violin and voice has never been seen on a South African stage. IT’S TIME is a feast of fabulous music and sparkling talent flavoured with a taste of sweet nostalgia. In summary, it is a razzmatazz, swinging, fun cabaret, and more.
The task of directing this unlikely musical pair fell upon South Africa's most successful comedy actor, Tim Plewman who was persuaded to venture out of his "cave" to defend them! Tim's infectious enthusiasm and dedication to this new concert show greatly contributed to the evolution of IT’S TIME.
It was of utmost importance that the music of the concert show be of the highest quality. The challenge of compiling their varied material and uniting voice and violin required the genius of Idol's musical director, Johan Laas, who produced the exquisite musical arrangements for IT’S TIME. The professional quality of IT’S TIME makes it the obvious choice for sparkling corporate entertainment and music entertainment for special occasions.

Liz trained in the USA, where she sailed through a degree in music performance at the University of Cincinnati. She has been a member of almost all the orchestras in South Africa, including the CTSO, Capab, Pacofs and the NSO. After the demise of the NSO, Liz embarked on a freelance career embracing all styles of music. She is well known in studio, and has played violin and viola on many of SA's top recording artists' albums. Liz was the violinist for the band Watershed for two years, the highlight of which was their 2002 European tour. The year 2004 brought about her transformation into the sultry Miss Liz Jones, contemporary violinist extraordinaire, stepping out on stage alongside her brilliant-entertainer-celebrity-cousin, Michael de Pinna, in their showstopper, IT’S TIME.
